Referee and Judges of the Pacquiao vs Cotto Fight, Revealed

The referee for the much awaited Pacquiao Vs Cotto bout has been revealed. According to GMA News, Kenny Bayless, one of the best referees in the world of boxing today, has been named the in-ring official for Cotto’s World Boxing Association (WBO) welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Bayless is a top-notch professional boxing referee from Las Vegas. He was also the third man in the ring in three of the People’s Champ’s knockout bouts, with Ricky Hatton last May, Juan Manuel Marquez in 2008, and Erik Morales in 2006. And, unlike Pacquiao’s card, Bayless was the referee of Cotto’s lone career loss to Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito in July 2008 via TKO. It does not really spell anything on who will win the upcoming bout, but it just sounds interesting to note.

Other notable fights he has refereed on are Roy Jones vs. Antonio Tarver, Bernard Hopkins vs. Oscar de la Hoya, de la Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley vs. Fernando Vargas, and Hatton vs. Paulie Malignaggi.

Boxingcofidential.com has said that, “There’s only one referee that should be utilized in Las Vegas super-bouts and his name is Kenny Bayless. Everytime I’ve seen Mr. Bayless referee a fight, I’ve seen him always control the bout with the highest degree of fairness, firmness, and accuracy.”

The names of the three ringside judges have also been announced by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.Dave Moretti, Duane Ford, and Adalaide Byrd are slated to score the bout on November 14. The three have had great experiences judging big fights in the past. But Byrd has been taking the most slack in recent years, though.

So, let’s just have to wait and whether the fight will end up on a knockout or if it will be a split or a unanimous decision on who will win this historic fight of Pacquiao vs. Cotto.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao left his training camp Baguio City, where he was preparing his fight against Cotto last Tuesday, for fear of being stranded there because of the coming typhoon that is said to hit Northern Luzon this week. He has moved to Manila where he is now pumping in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) until Thursday only because the venue has been reserved for an event. they are still looking for an alternative venue for Friday and saturday.

The decisioin has been prompted because of the possibilty of being stuck in Baguio in the event that the storm may cause massive flooding and landslides just like what happened just a few weeks ago. He is now facing the heat that Manila is offering, a condition he is somewhat complaining to because he is used to training in cool, or even cold weathers of Baguio, Nevada, and Southern California.

He is slated to leave to the US, where he will continue training, on Saturday night so he can resume his training at the Wild card on Monday. Freddie Roach said that Pacquiao is now already 75 percent condition. You can Watch Pacquiao Vs Cotto for free only on this site on the day of the fight itself.
