Manny Pacquiao Guested on the Jimmy Kimmel Show

Manny Pacquiao stayed away from the practice for the Pacquiao Vs Cotto match this week to guest on the late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. It will be less than two weeks before his historic fight against Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, but he took his time off last Tuesday night to have some fun. He was asked about his upcoming fight with Cotto, his acting career, and not only did he show off his boxing skills, he also showed his singing chops!

Kimmel asked him about his upcoming fight with Cotto, and Pacquiao answered, “I respect Miguel Cotto. i told him that he’s a champion for this fight and I’m just a challenger.”

“This fight is very important to me. It’s going to history in boxing,” he added.

He was then asked about his nickname, Pacman, and if he knew what Pacman is, he replied, to the delight of the audience, “My dog. I have a dog named Pacman.” He is so funny.

Dressed in a dark, button-down shirt and blue jeans, Kimmel asked him about his upcoming movie, Wapakman , where Pacman will play as a superhero. He showed them a small poster of the movie. And Pacquiao explained his powers “are a mix of Superman and Spiderman.” And from, which he will do his own stunts, like Jackie Chan. The movie will be directed by Topel Lee and will be produced by Solar Films.

He made some laughs at the audience when he was asked about his youngest daughter’s name, Queen Elizabeth, and from where he got the name.

Another subject that came up was how Manny practiced with wooden sticks. He used them to toughen up his arms and stomach, pain management and mind conditioning. From then, Kimmel got some like them and pounded it on his desk. On which Manny said, “Yeah. And it hurts.”

He also punched out some recycled Halloween pumpkins backstage in a mock training set-up.

And Kimmel must have found it odd that he brought up why he was living with eight people in his apartment plus thirty people in Team Pacquiao. He explained that the members of his entourage have their own specific roles, one of whom is “a guy who cooks for me.”

Kimmel also talked about the pound for pound king’s singing career. He said, “It’s usually not a good idea when boxers record an album.” Remember, Oscar de la Hoya’s self-titled album? But believe it or not, Pacquiao’s Para Sa ‘Yo Ang Laban na ‘To, became a hit in the Philippines.

But the highlight of the show would have to be when the People’s Champ turned the comedy, talk show into a huge karaoke bar. He belted out one of Dan Hill’s ballads, Sometimes When We Touch. Isn’t it ironic that a tough boxer who knocks out his opponents like him would sing such a soft love song? Who said life ain’t strange? on that short stint, he showed that he is a crowd pleaser. Pacman is not only a boxer, but he is also an actor, singer, a pounding bag, comedian. A total entertainer. You know?
